FORM APPROVED FOR NGUYEN VAN CU BRIDGE, STREET PROJECT
By Thien Nhan
(SGT - HCMC) The project to extend Nguyen Van
CU Street and build a bridge on this route will be developed
in domestic build-transfer form, according to a HCMC Peoples
Committee decision signed last week.
Le Toan, director of the management unit of communication
construction projects at the Service of Communications and
Public Works, told the Daily on Tuesday that Truong Son Construction
Corp. was likely to be chosen as the contractor.
The key project will require an estimated VND240 billion,
half of this for site clearance and compensation. Toan said
the decision meant that work could start on a design and cost
estimates.
"If there are no problems with site clearance, construction
will commence this year and take 24 months", he said.
The project is comprised of a 1.8-kilometer four-lane road
section through districts 1, 5 and 8 from the intersection
with Tran Hung Dao Boulevard to Xang Bridge, and a 530-meter
bridge over Ben Nghe and Te canals.
HCMC authorities have also approved changes to the official
cost estimate for the construction of Nhi Thien Duong 2 Bridge
in District 8. The old figure of VND38 billion has been changed
to VND 66.27 billion, including VND44 billion for site clearance
and compensation.
The planned bridge over Doi Canal on Nguyen Van Cua Street
leading to National Highway 50 will be located just 20 meters
downstream from the existing Nhi Thien Duong Bridge. This
is one of the main access routes to the Mekong Delta.
