TAN
THUAN EPZ CUTS INFRASTRUCTURE MAINTENANCE FEES
By Ngoc Huong
(SGT-HCMC) Infrastructure maintenance fees
in Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone have been reduced to 0.25%
from 0.3% of the tenants annual export turnover for
businesses posting annual export revenue of US$3 million or
less.
The reduction in infrastructure maintenance fees was approved
on March 16 by Tran Ngoc Con, HCMC Vice Chairman cum head
of Hepza, the authority that oversees industrial and export
processing zones. The decision, however, was considered effective
since January 1.
The reduction rate is also widened in line with the expansion
of export revenue. The 0.225% fees will be applied for those
with export revenue of US$3-10 million; 0.2% for US$10-20
million; 0.175 for US$20-40 million; 0.15% for US$40-80 million;
0.125% for US$80-120 million; 0.1% for US$ 120-160 million
and 0.075% for US$160-200 million. Those obtaining US$200
million or more can enjoy fee exemption.
This is the second time Tan Thuan EPZ has revised down infrastructure
maintenance fees. The first revision was effective since May
2000. The move is aimed at encouraging investors to raise
investment capital and improve export performance.
