THE
DESIGN TEAM
In
July 1993, PMH hosted an international urban design competition
for the Saigon South Urban Development Project. The winners
and creators of the award-winning Saigon South Master Plan
were a team respected architectural firms:
SKIDMORE,
OWINGS & MERRIL (San
Francisco)-
Master Planner
Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) is a world renowned planning/architecture
firm that has designed new communities, large-scale infrastructure
developments, campuses, and building complexes. Their projects
include Canary Wharf (London), King Abdulaziz International
Airport (Saudi Arabia), the Northeast Rail Corridor extending
from Washington D.C. to Boston (US), and the New World Center
(Hong Kong). SOM was awarded the 1995 Progressive Architecture
Award and 1997 American Institute of Architects Award for
its work on Saigon South.
KOETTER,
KIM & ASSOCIATES (Boston)
Master Plan Advisor and New City Center
Detail Design
Koetter, Kim & Associates maintains a diverse international
urban design and architectural practice, which includes large-scale
urban projects, and landscape design, as well as commercial,
institutional and residential work. Mr. Frank Koetter is the
Dean of the Architecture School at Yale University. The firm
has been honored with a number of awards including the Progressive
Architecture Design Award in 1979, 1980, 1986 and 1988.
KENZO
TANGE ASSOCIATES (Tokyo) - Master
Plan advisor and Site B,C& D Detail Design
Kenzo
Tange Associates was founded in 1946 by Kenzo Tange to undertake
urban and architectural design. The firm's nearly 50 years
of international experience includes architecture and urban
planning projects ranging from commercial buildings to entire
new cities. Its city planning efforts include new capital
city projects for Abuja in Nigeria, the Federal Twin Capital
of Malaysia, and Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei. Kenzo Tange
is considered one of the leaders in the field of architecture
and has received over 40 prizes from around the world.
