LAWRENCES. TING MEMORIAL FUND SCHOLARSHIP SCREENING PROGRAM
The Fund establishes this program to develop Vietnamese talent in accordance with the mission, goal and Charter of Lawrence S. Ting’s Memorial Fund. The contents of the program are to award scholarships to the exceptional students of high schools and universities and to create condition for the country to develop talents. The Fund shall screen the exceptional students’ applications for scholarships filed by qualified schools based on the following terms annually.
1. Qualification for Application
1.1The high schools and universities in Vietnam selected by the Fund
1.2The students with outstanding study performance recommended by the aforementioned schools.
1.3The students intend to apply for scholarships to solve their study difficulty, to improve the learning condition or to use it for science research.
2. Number of Scholarship
The Executive Committee of the Fund shall determine the number of scholarship to be applied by the qualified schools selected by the Fund.
3. Scholarship application procedure and documents required
3.1Each semester the students of the aforementioned schools can file their applications with their schools in accordance with the number of the scholarship and screening criteria set by the Fund.
3.2The school shall make an initial screening for its applicant’s eligibility and set up a qualified student list and send the list with the following documents attached to the Board of Directors.
- Application form for the scholarship
- The student’s study performance sheet (photocopies) for last semester
- Student’s autobiography in English
- School’s letter of recommendation (with two teachers’ recommendations)
- Other evidence (if any)
4. Scholarship Screening Committee
The Scholarship Screening Committee consists of the representative of Board of Directors of Executive Committee and the professionals of education and training (about 3 to 5 persons).
The Screening Committee shall screen all documents according to the following ways.
- To make a screening against the terms and criteria stipulated by the Fund.
- To communicate with the school principal for his/her comment.
- To understand and screen the candidates who apply for the scholarship.

6. Screening Procedure
6.1The recommendation units shall make the candidate’s screening and recommendation procedure in accordance with the criteria and items in this Program.
6.2The deadline of accepting the application: by February 10th and the end of July each year respectively.
6.3Accepting method: to apply by recommendation letter.
6.4Screening procedure: recommendation, qualification check, interview and final screening step.
6.5The Screening Committee of the Fund shall implement the screening procedure in February and August each year respectively.
7. Scholarship awarding method:
7.1To hold scholarship awarding ceremony twice each academic year.
7.2Each student winning the scholarship can obtain the certificate and a certain amount of scholarship each semester.
7.2.1 Each university student winning the scholarship shall be awarded monthly VND 1,000,000 for five months; total scholarship amount is VND 5,000,000.
7.2.2 Each high school student winning the scholarship shall be awarded monthly VND 500,000 for four and half months; total scholarship amount is VND 2,250,000.
7.2.3 Other depends on each school’s situation.
7.3The student scholarship recipient shall open a bank account with Vietcombank; the Fund shall remit each recipient’s scholarship to his/her bank account by month.
Note:

- The students who have already won a scholarship from other organizations can not reapply for a scholarship with the Fund except for their special outstanding performance.
- The recommendation units shall mail the formal application form to the Fund located at 4th Floor, Crescent Building , 105 Ton Dat Tien Street, Tan Phu Ward ,District 7, Ho Chi Minh City ,Vietnam one month following the date of receiving the notification from the Fund.
- Executive Committee shall determine the amount of the scholarship.
