Welcome to the website of Lawrence S. Ting Memorial Fund.
The Lawrence S. Ting Memorial Fund is established to promote the legacy of CT&D Group's late chairman, Mr. Lawrence Ting, to remember his contribution to society and see that his wish of conducting charity works in Vietnam be carried out.
Mr. Ting led our group into Vietnam 15 years ago. Despite countless hardships, he persevered to see that these meaningful projects, namely Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, Hiep Phuoc Power Plant, and Phu My Hung Urban Development Project, comes to fruition. These projects provide a large pool of job opportunities to the local people, upgrade basic infrastructure, and promote the prosperity of the local economy.
Mr. Ting considered Vietnam his second home. He planned to retire in 2005 and concentrate on charity works in Vietnam. Over the past few years, a total of USD1.8 million was donated, of which USD1 million was applied towards the establishment of Vietnamese schools and the rest to scholarship, medical assistance, and child protection funds. The plan for establishing a charity found for the unfortunate group was in the making before his sudden passing away.
In order to realize Mr. Ting dream for our generation and the generations to come, our Group decided to contribute portion of our annual profit to the Lawrence S. Ting Memorial Fund. As a start-up, Mrs. Ting donated USD100,000, including all the condolence gifts, to the Lawrence S. Ting Memorial Fund.
The Memorial Fund will concentrate on the following charity works in Vietnam:
1. Education: establish new schools, upgrade existing facilities and educational tools, and provide scholarships for poor and outstanding students.
2. Medical Facilities: provide medical facilities to medical institutions and establish new clinics in remote areas.
3. Basic Infrastructure: road and bridge construction in HCM city and neighboring areas.
4. Construction of affordable housing for low-income earners and beautification of communities.
